Construction Branch
The Construction Branch is located at First Floor in Vishvavidyalaya Suvidha Kendra (Shopping complex) in the University Campus. The Construction Branch dealing with the execution and monitoring of the construction and Maintenance in University campus. The Construction Branch prepares estimates and proposals for various development works. Also ,the Branch liaisons with various Government Bodies like PW (B&R) Department, HSRDC, Public Health Department, Irrigation Department,NHAI and NBCC (I) Ltd. etc. for various public works and Deposit works in the University campus. With the support of University Administration, in a very short span the Construction Branch has satisfactorily developed its infrastructure as well University Campus.
PROCEDURE CHANNELS OF SUPERVISION AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Junior Engineer/ Technical Assitant/ Clerks submit proposals/matters to the Branch In charge i.e. Sub Divisional Engineer to take the decisions up to his competency and the matter beyond his competency submitted to the Competent Authority with the recommendations of Technical Advisor, if required. The matter relating to the monitoring or implementation of all the construction works are dealt by NBCC (I) limited at site as deposit works. Preparation of Drawing and Design, Detailed Estimates, DNIT etc. for major projects are dealt by the University Architect and scrutinized by the team of Construction Branch and NBCC (I) Ltd.The Construction Branch is also looking after the maintenance of its campus 24x7 days by means of engagement of its staff like Plumbers, Electricians, Lift operators and Gardeners etc. However, matters relating to funds are dealt by the Clerk under the control of the Junior Engineer (Civil)/Sub Divisional Engineer/Technical Advisor /Finance Officer/Registrar/Vice Chancellor. There is Resident Audit Scheme in the payment release operation of the University and the expenditure is verified by the Auditors/RSA/ DD (Audit) of Local Audit Department.
Committees For Construction Works
- Building Construction Committee
The Building Construction Committee under the Chairmanship of the Vice Chancellor considers the various proposals of Construction Branch regarding infrastructure development in the campus. The committee gives approval to the Drawings and estimates submitted by the Construction Branch and allow construction works through E - Tendering process.
- Monitoring and Quality Control Committee
The MQCC has been constituted by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor for monitoring the progress and quality of construction works in the University Campus. The MQCC under the chairmanship of worthy Registrar inspect the construction works time to time to ensure the quality of works as per standard.
Achievements
During inception of the University only two buildings named as Girls Hostel and Teaching Block – I in partial completion stage were handed over from Regional Centre, Kurukshetra University. Thereafter, in a very short span the University has developed its infrastructure up to reasonable stage. The University provides excellent infrastructure facility as well as landscaping in its campus. Since inception , the University has established following milestones in its infrastructure development:
Basic Infrastructure: The University has completed its basic infrastructure like Electricity roads, sewer, street lights etc. Two nos. electric Sub Stations have been constructed and operational to distribute power supply in the campus. One 33 KV Sub Station of DHBVN has also been established University campus to eliminate frequent power cut and helps to minimize expenditure, Air & Noise pollution due to running of DG sets.
Teaching Blocks: An extension part of existing Teaching Block – I (स्वामी विवेकानंद भवन) and Teaching Block- II (सी० वी० रमन भवन) have been constructed with ultra modern facilities like- Smart Class Rooms, Auditoriums, Seminar Halls, CCTV surveillance and Air conditioned labs. Presently the University have nearly 3,00,000 Square feet constructed area in shape of teaching blocks. Newly constructed Teaching Block –II have been earmarked for administrative offices and Department of Physical Science like Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science and Mathematics.
Hostels: University provides hostel facility for 200 boys and equal number of girls in its campus. The hostels are facilitated with Wi- Fi, Lifts, CCTV and Firefighting equipments etc.
Residences: University has constructed 20 nos. D-Type Residences and 04 Nos. E- Type Residences for Teaching and non – teaching staff. Vice Chancellor’s Residence have also been constructed in campus.
Sewage treatment Plant: STP having capacity 1 MLD (One million litre per day) have been constructed. The STP collects the sewage of whole campus and treats the sewage. The effluent in shape of treated water is utilized for landscape watering. Thus helping in minimizing water pollution.
Maharshi Patanjali Yog bhawan: Multipurpose Hall with underground parking of 200 vehicles has been constructed. The hall is centrally air conditioned and having provision of indoor games like badminton, Table tennis etc. The hall will be used for cultural program, yoga session and other related activities. Underground vehicle parking will solve the problem of surface parking and may help in creating vehicle free zone.
Green Building Concept:
To minimize electricity consumption
- University has installed LED lights in all buildings and
- Proposal of 450 KW Rooftop solar power generation plant is at the stage of signing of
- Cavity in wall is being provided in new buildings to ensure thermal
Such efforts are continued and towards up gradation to save conventional energy and generation of renewable energy.
For saving and recharge of ground water table 8 Nos. recharge wells for rain water harvesting have been constructed. The RWH pits collect surface water and through filter media recharges water table.
Building Design for Differently Abled Person(s) : Provisions of ramps, lifts and PH toilets have been made in buildings. Further provision for Braille tactile tiles and signs has also been adopted in buildings under construction. An Audit for confirmation/improvement on provisions as per PWD Act, 2016 is in process.
Construction Works in Progress
Library Building: Construction of library building is in The building will consist of Basement, Ground plus Five storey. The library building will have the 24x7 open reading hall, space for Dept. of Library science, Books and computer centre. Provisions of green building concept and Divyang Jan’s friendly building have been made in the building. The estimated cost of the work is Rs. 5636 lakh and scheduled to be completed upto 30.10.2024. On completion, the Library building will help in grant of funds and accreditations from the UGC.
- Guest House: Construction of Guest House is in process. The building will have 36 nos. Guest rooms, One Conference, drawing and dining The building also having the CM suite and the Governor Suit and 2 nos. VIP rooms. The estimated cost of the work is Rs. 1845 lakh and and scheduled to be completed upto 30.03.2024.
