Department of Music &Dance has its origin in the year 2012 under the Faculty of Music & Dance with 20 seats as part of the Kurukshetra University Post Graduate Regional Centre, Jind to promote academics and learn Music. The regional centre grew into a full-fledged State University- Chaudhary Ranbir Singh University (CRSU) on 24th July 2014. The Department is very active in organization of various cultural activities. A good performance has been shown by the student of Department in various programmes/ competitions.

At present the department has young academicians with 3 teachers namely Dr. Krishan Kumar (In-charge), Dr. Bhawana and Dr. Kavita. All the teachers are engaged in cultural activities and published enough national and international recognized research papers, and also participated in national and international seminars and conferences.

With cooperation and active participation of all the teachers and students, the department successfully organized a National Seminar titled “Bhartiya Sangeet: Kal, Aaj aur Kal” in 2018-19. The famous personalities in the field of music were invited in the seminar namely famous Vocalist Prof. Hukum Chand (Dean & Head of Music Department, MDU Rohtak), famous Sitarist Dr. Harvinder Sharma (Retd. Principal), famous Vocalist and Harmonium player Dr. Dinkar Sharma (GC Panipat) and Sarangi vaadak Majeed Khan (local artist). All these notable artists performed in the seminar and shared their valuable experiences with all the students and research scholars to help them understand deep and better knowledge of music. Almost 200 students participated in this seminar.

Future Plan: The department in future is also planning to organize again a splendid national/ international seminar in 2019-2020, to arrange 7/10 days workshop for proper training and exposure to students, to invite famous artists from every corner of India to get an insight of their valuable talent and department is also working hard towards having a departmental library/ sound labs. Last but not the least, the department is also working in ensuring that research courses like M. Phil and Ph.D. should be taught in the department for its all round development.
